Progress towards a water sensitive city requires more than just physical change. A change to culture within the Council and the local community was important in Maroondah to influence core values and drive longer term change. The development of a water sensitive city strategy firstly developed a holistic understanding of the whole water cycle in Maroondah, combining urban and rural issues around water supply, stormwater management, wastewater management and waterway health. Through a series of stakeholder workshops, combined with targeted one-on-one interviews, a comprehensive implementation plan could be developed to support the delivery of strategic projects and key capacity building activities.
